THG applauds confirmation of Douglas G. Murdock as state CIO

HONOLULU — Transform Hawaii Government (THG) Executive Director Christine Sakuda today released the following statement regarding the state Senate’s confirmation of Douglas G. Murdock as chief information officer (CIO) of the State of Hawaii:

“Our Transform Hawaii Government coalition applauds the members of the state Senate for confirming CIO Doug Murdock, who instills confidence in our state’s ability to modernize and optimize state information technology systems and processes in service to the people of Hawaii.

CIO Murdock’s term is already off to a great start, with stated commitments to completing the state’s IT strategic plan and expressed support of important legislation to improve the management, sharing and accessibility of government data.

“In convening the IT Steering Committee for the first time, Chair Murdock emphasized the need to prioritize digital workforce development and adopt ‘evergreen’ IT practices that empower state employees and help ensure IT systems keep pace with 21st Century ways of doing business. As a member of the IT Steering Committee myself, I look forward to working together, and keeping the state accountable when necessary, to continuing our government transformation.”
